Emergency Response Communications Nets

Each Sunday evening, my parents and I participate in a local Emergency Response Communications Net (ERC).

Running the Net

I have run the net a couple of times. This means that I have been “Net Control” and have been the facilitator for the net.

I do the roll call and keep track of who check into the net. I note the regular attendees as well as visitors.

I also ask if there is any emergency traffic. Emergency traffic means that someone is asking for help due to a threat of life or property.

I was extremely nervous the first time I ran the net. The second time I ran the net it was easier because I had done it before.

Weekly Emergency Response Communications Nets Prepare Us

In an emergency, I know that I could help on an ERC net if I was asked to assist.

P.S. Each September is National Preparedness Month. How prepared are you?
