Starter Service Kit

The Starter Service Kit is a practical entry point for collectors who are new to limited edition photography. It brings together a single gelatin silver print from the current archive, a hand-numbered certificate of authenticity, and a short curatorial note that places the image within the broader series it belongs to.

Each kit is assembled around one photograph, selected from series such as The Last Mill or Street Geometry. The print is made on fibre-based paper, toned for permanence, and signed on the mount. The accompanying note explains the location, the film stock used, and the context of the image within the larger body of work.

What makes this kit useful is its restraint. Instead of offering a broad selection, it focuses on a single piece and gives you the information needed to understand it properly. The certificate records the edition number, the total run, and the date of printing, so there is no ambiguity about what you are acquiring.

Medium-format negatives of a derelict woollen mill near Halifax. Twelve gelatin silver prints, each numbered and signed, documenting the slow collapse of the weaving sheds and the light that still finds its way through broken roof slates.

Series 02 — 2021

Street Geometry: Manchester Vernacular

Two years of walking the back streets of Miles Platting and Ancoats. Brick bonds, cast-iron railings, the repetitive rhythm of terraced gables. Eight prints in edition of fifteen, fibre-based paper, selenium toned.

Series 03 — 2022

Silver and Shadow: Darkroom Studies

A small portfolio of still lifes made inside the darkroom itself — trays, tongs, drying racks, the chemistry of development. Six prints that treat the printing process as its own subject, with full technical notes on each mount.

Series 04 — 2023

Harbour Light: Coastal Industrial Edge

Grain silos, fish docks and the concrete aprons of a working harbour on the North Sea coast. Shot on 4×5 film, printed in editions of ten. The series looks at how maritime labour shapes the visual character of a town.

Series 05 — 2024

Chapel Interiors: Nonconformist Architecture

Interior studies of abandoned Methodist and Baptist chapels across West Yorkshire. Pews, pulpits, hymn boards and the particular grey light of a north-facing window. Nine prints, each with a short curatorial note on the building's history.
